What is a Clinical Psychologist?
People seek help from a clinical psychologist for many different reasons. It may be that you or a family / whanau member is struggling with feelings of sadness or anxiety. There may be misunderstandings or difficulties with communication between people or patterns of relating to others that are creating social problems. Sometimes there are mental health symptoms which are impacting on a person’s life and family.
A clinical psychologist is trained to talk with you (or a couple, group and family) about your experiences in a way that helps develop new understandings and ways of moving forwards.
A clinical psychologist can provide a range of psychological therapies which may involve making changes in thinking, patterns of behaviour or relating, and emotions. These changes may occur in the person’s own life or in their relationships or education/vocation.
